Great News During a Pandemic: You Are Making a Difference!
The performance of small businesses is crucial, not just to business owners but to the economy of New Mexico as well. Our state is built on the success of small businesses and is the primary source of jobs, pride and tax dollars which drives our economy. The Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce has focused on supporting the efforts of our locally owned businesses during one of the most trying times in the history of the United States. Our local businesses are important to drive our economic recovery and we know these business owners and employees; they are our family, friends and neighbors.
According to tracktherecovery.org, Sandoval County has increased consumer spending by 6.4% compared to the Pandemic’s start last year. Small business revenue is up 20.7%, which is the only county in New Mexico, Texas, Arizona or Colorado that can make this claim. In comparison, New Mexico is down 32.7%, Albuquerque is down 30.3% and Santa Fe is down 30.5%. These results are compiled by Harvard, Brown University and the Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation. A story like this is because of YOU! If you live in Rio Rancho, Corrales, Bernalillo, Placitas, Cuba, Jemez Springs or anywhere in between, you have shown your support and belief in our community. Not every business in Sandoval County is improving, but our combined effort is having a positive impact. When was the last time anywhere in New Mexico was #1?
Today, much of New Mexico is now yellow or green, so we can support our local businesses with expanded options. The Chamber has been offering free advertising for businesses via radio, newsprint and online social media to support these businesses. On behalf of the Chamber and local businesses, THANK YOU!
“This is great news!”, said Mayor Gregg Hull of Rio Rancho. “I have long held and now we are seeing the proof that shopping local has a positive impact on local businesses and local government. The impact of Rio Rancho and Sandoval county citizens supporting local businesses has aided in the survival of many small businesses and helped local government provide consistent services during a very difficult time. Thank you to everyone and a huge shout out to the Rio Rancho Chamber for their commitment to local businesses.” In addition, Sandoval County Commissioner Dave Heil stated “We are Number 1 because of the outstanding collaboration within our community. Thanks to all who are working hard to keep Sandoval County growing.”

Once again THANK YOU! Eat. Drink. Shop. Play. LOCAL!
