It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Paul Barabe, former Membership VP at the Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce. He passed away Saturday morning in the presence of Joni and his family.

Paul had worked with the Chamber for 14 years, until his retirement this past May. He was an integral part of the Chamber for all those years and very active in the Rio Rancho Community. He was a man of many talents; he was active in the Rotary, Lobo Club and planning boards. His exceptional leadership within the Chamber helped the community and businesses grow and develop. Prior to the Chamber, he had a long and wonderful career with Alaska Airlines. Paul was also a Vietnam veteran.

Paul was a man of faith and family. He was a graduate of St. Pius High School, and he continued to support the school for a number of years. At St. Pius, he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Joni. Their love for each other was one that many strive for in our lives. He and Joni had three children. He was a proud father and grandfather that would do anything for his family.

The Rio Rancho community will miss Paul; since his retirement from the Chamber we have missed him dearly. I cannot say enough about Paul, his enthusiasm or commitment to this community. We will cherish the time we had with him and appreciate everything he has done for the Chamber and the City of Rio Rancho.
